Travel Information

Stevenage is located between Luton and Stansted international airports and getting there is simple.

Travel Disruption Update (11/9)

Sadly, as you may have heard, Queen Elizabeth passed on Thursday 8th September. The effect of this is that the rail strike has now been called off though we still urge you to keep watching for updates on the travel company websites below.

The funeral has been scheduled for Monday which could cause a high amount of travel congestion so we would recommend getting to your departure hub at least 3 hours before departure. In particular, London and the trains going into London are likely to be highly congested.

Thameslink services between St Pancras, London to Stevenage, run directly and frequently. However, to emphasise, this will be congested on Monday 19th.

The Thameslink website is here

From: Luton Airport

You should get on the 100/101 bus which goes to Stevenage. You can find the timetable here

From: Stansted Airport

The Stansted Express into London should be running on both Thursday 15th and Monday 19th.

Your other option may be to get a National Express  bus from Stansted to London Liverpool Street, get the tube to Kings Cross St Pancras and then the Thameslink from St Pancras to Stevenage (Thameslink).

Your next option should be to travel from Stansted to Luton with National Express then the 100/101 bus as detailed in the Luton advice.

However, if there is a group of you, you might find it easier and cheaper to book a minibus taxi from the airport to Stevenage as it is 45km. This link might be a good place to start: LINK

From: heathrow Airport

You can get the tube into London and then get a Thameslink or LNER trains from either (they are different mainline stations) Kings Cross or St Pancras to Stevenage directly. All train information can be found at this website.

If there are any problems with the trains then get a National Express bus from the airport to Luton Airport then the 100/101 bus to Stevenage as per the Luton advice above.

From: Gatwick Airport

The Thameslink train runs directly from Gatwick to Stevenage, we recommend booking early and keeping an eye on the their website. If you want to drop into London first then you can also get the Gatwick Express train.

If there are any problems with the trains, your best alternative is Gatwick to Victoria coach station – Victoria coach station to Luton – then the 100/101 as per the Luton advice on this page.

We strongly recommend keeping an eye on the website for more updates.

From: Eurostar Terminal

The normal route would be Kings Cross to Stevenage direct by train. (Trainline.com)

With the strike the alternative route would be Kings Cross to Victoria by tube – 10 minutes walk to Victoria coach station -  Coach to Luton then the 100 or 101.

Alternatively, large groups map prefer to hire a minibus

Note:
The travel information above relating to strike action and service disruption supersedes the general information given below.
